End of SAP Maintenance in 2013

SAP announced End of Extended Maintenance

2012 is going to be the year for SAP customers to make sure their SAP systems are in compliance with the latest versions.
SAP has recently announced that the extended maintenance for the older R/3 versions 4.6c and 4.7 will end in 2013. The companies that have not yet upgraded to a newer version have the year 2012 to do so. Those companies that have already upgraded their system are ready for this change. They have the comfort of knowing that the standard maintenance for ERP 6.0 and its Business Suite 7 will be extended until 2020.

SAP had originally scheduled the end of the support for R/3 versions 4.6c in 2010 – which was later changed to 2013. But the companies dread the process of manual upgrade because it is expensive, time-consuming, resource-intensive, and error-prone. Having the custom ABAP code adds to the complexity of the upgrade. But the companies that have been putting it off so far cannot postpone the upgrade any longer. They can only find an alternative to make this process faster, cost-effective, and error-free.
